CD Reviews for: BEASTO BLANCO / BROKEN CHORDS / THE DEAD DAISES / LOVEBLAST

CD REVIEW: LIVE FAST DIE LOUD by Beasto Blanco
(Rat Pak Records)

Thank the Gods of Rock for unleashing the almighty, Beasto Blanco! The band's debut release, 'Live Fast Die Loud' is a hard rock/metal hybrid that will have you rocking and rolling for days as their music resonates in your head. Beasts Blanco is Chuck Garric, ( most recently the bass player with Alice Cooper) on vocals and guitar, Chris Latham on guitars, Jan Le Grow on bass and vocals, Tim Husung on drums and vocals and Tiffany Lowe on synth and vocals. As well as appearances by Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper), Jonathan Mover and Alice Cooper's daughter Calico. Formed in 2012, Garric and Latham set out to create a live, raw power, rock & roll band that would let them indulge their influences and imagery that shaped their collective musical background. After one listen, I can say, they accomplished that and then some. In an age where musicians are mixing genres left and right, but end up being more of a gimmick, Beasto Blanco makes it clear that hard rock and metal make a very potent mix of sound, and you can tell these guys are dead serious on making sure you feel that through their music. Beasto Blanco' s uncanny ability to pay homage to their influences without sounding like a shameless rip-off is simply amazing. It's a fine line to walk and this band does it with a combination of confidence and swagger.  While some sections of their songs sound like newly discovered tracks from Motorhead and White Zombie, make no mistake Beasto Blanco bring their own flavor to the table. As is evident once you press play and the Spaghetti Western vibe of "Ill Nostro Spirito" opens the album before putting the pedal to the metal and going full throttle with, "Beasto Blanco", "Blood Shot", "California", "Breakdown" and "Vegas". Every song is a winner loaded to the hilt with raw energy. I kid you not, this is the caliber of music that makes you want to punch a stranger in the face and ask them "Who are these guys?! Tell me!" Bottom line; 'Live Fast Die Loud' is one of the best hard rock albums to come out this year. It's like a "grindhouse horror movie" unique, unpredictable and so good it's scary. Long live Beasto Blanco!! - Highly Recommended

CD REVIEW: BROKEN CHORDS Ep by Broken Chords
(Capital Artist)

The UK power rock trio the Broken Chords come on the music scene with mean rocking intentions! Seriously, these lads are focused and they are holding nothing back or pulling punches! The band's self titled Ep serves up a classic rock sound that reference Led Zep and Cream while sitting firmly in the 21st Century. The band is made up of Joe (Vocals/Guitar), Aid (Vocals/Bass) and Jamie (Drums).  The Broken Chords walk against that boring old rerun grain, and gives you just what you need. There's something for everyone on this album, no matter what your taste. For balls to the wall rockers, check out tracks like "Live And Let Loose", "Son Of A Gun" and "Set You Free". For those of you who gotta have a little hard blues in your aural diet, "Fly Or Die" and the stick of rock and roll dynamite, "Pyro" are guaranteed to give you a shot a adrenaline. Broken Chords is a band not to be missed. In short, Broken Chords is a must for everyone who love blues-based, hard rockin', diaphragm-clenching music. For all those who want to flat out get their rocks off! For those that believe that gutsy, adrenalized rock is dead, I have only two words for you, BROKEN CHORDS. This power rock trio are about to put the rock music world on notice! - Highly Recommended

CD REVIEW: THE DEAD DAISES by The Dead Daisies
(Dead Daisies, PTY LTD)

Finally, a band enters the music scene with nothing to lose and they have won, musically. On their self-titled debut, The Dead Daisies have produced an album worthy of industry award recognition. From the opening riff of "It's Gonna Take Time" to the groove laden rocker like "Lock N Load (feat. Slash)" and the foot stomping "Washington", The Dead Daisies have found a sound that is both unique and modern. They have harnessed a multitude of styles and talents and blended them into something original. Twelve songs total. I honestly cannot pick a favorite on this album because they all have their place and are all winners! The Dead Daisies is vocalist Jon Stevens (Noiseworks, INXS), lead guitarist Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses, Thin Lizzy), rhythm guitarist David Lowy (Mink, The Angels), bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent, Whitesnake), drummer Alex Carapetis (Nine Inch Nails, Julian Casablancas) and keyboardist Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses). This album gets better and better the more you listen to it. Don't get me wrong, it was great on the first spin. But the more you listen, the more depth you realize is there. The Dead Daisies's self-titled debut has more layers and intricacies to explore than most bands these days. Perhaps it is a testament to their pure professionalism that excels this album past the clutter of everyday music. Jon Stevens is a rock solid rock n' roll frontman. The guitar tandem of Richard Fortus and David Lowery have great chemistry. While the rhythm of Marco Mendoza and Alex Carspetis give the band a rock solid foundation. A band of brothers pumping out powerful rock songs served up with that devious sense of mischief which has always lived at the heart of rock and roll.  The best praise you can give a band like this is by asking, simply, "When are you going to make another record?" - Highly Recommended

CD REVIEW: HARD LIQUOR IN BIG GLASSES by Loveblast
(Loveblast Music)

Follow-up to their smashing self titled debut release, Chicago's, Loveblast are back with their new five song EP, 'Hard Liquor In Big Glasses. A straight up in your face hard rock sound that will put your stereo speakers to the test. What makes the material and this album memorable is the nature of the songwriting, emphasizing on huge choruses, grooves and melodies being the very essence of this genre.  Loveblast is  Brian Durbin on vocals, guitar, Brian Gilmanov on vocals, guitar, Johnny Rox on vocals, bass and Jeff Dewbray on drums. Now, one could argue that a rock-star attitude is hard to be induced naturally in a band's music, with groups moving towards that direction often sounding forced and perhaps unconvincing. Well, Loveblast have managed to sound as spontaneous as possible and the more one plays this album the more one will be convinced that this band has the goods and a very promising career ahead of them. It's really no surprise after listening to this album why Loveblast were voted “Best Original Band,” and “Best Hard Rock Band,” in Chicago, these boys ROCK! I know it sounds cliche, but it's true Loveblast are the real deal. All five tracks on this recording are meant to be played at maximum volume. From the opening rock anthem, "Wild Forever" to the closing, "When We Were Young" are all flat out winners!  You actually want to listen to each and every song. Overall, 'Hard Liquor In Big Glasses' is a solid hard rock album during times when good new hard rock is difficult to find. In a year, when all your friends start asking you if you've ever heard of Loveblast, be the one that says "Where have you been?" Don't let this one pass you by! - Highly Recommended
